Metabolic Health: Optimizing the Systems That Power Your Health

Metabolic health influences nearly every aspect of your well-being—including energy, body composition, cardiovascular health, hormone balance, inflammation, brain function, and healthy aging. At Sante Health, we go beyond routine laboratory testing by combining advanced metabolic assessment, comprehensive diagnostics, and personalized treatment planning through The Sante Method to help you optimize long-term health before disease develops.

What Metabolic Health Means at The Sante Method

Metabolism is the collection of biological processes that allow every cell in your body to produce and use energy. Healthy metabolism supports stable blood sugar, cardiovascular function, hormone balance, cognitive performance, healthy body composition, and resilience against chronic disease. When metabolism begins to decline, symptoms often appear years before routine laboratory tests become abnormal. Our goal is to identify these early changes and intervene before disease develops.

This is what people often mean when they search "talk to an endocrinologist" and find the available options stop at thyroid. Sante is a metabolism-first practice for the broader question: when standard care can't explain the symptom, what's actually happening at the metabolic and endocrine level, and what changes meaningfully shift it?

The work is evidence-informed, systems-based, and longevity-focused. We measure, interpret, and personalize. We do not guess.

Two Pathways We Offer

Your metabolic care will route to one of two clinical pathways. Each has its own page.

Comprehensive Metabolic Assessment

A one-time advanced evaluation designed to identify metabolic risk factors, interpret complex laboratory findings, and develop a personalized roadmap for improving long-term health.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Program

Continuous Glucose Monitoring provides real-time insight into how your body responds to food, exercise, stress, sleep, and daily activities. Rather than relying on a single fasting glucose measurement, CGM helps identify glucose variability, early insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction before diabetes develops. This information allows us to personalize nutrition, optimize metabolic flexibility, and monitor progress throughout your care.

The cadence is straightforward:
1. The device can be mailed to your home with step-by-step instructions on how to use it, or inserted in-office at our Westlake Village location
2. Wear it for 14 days
3. Review the data is reviewed during a 60-minute telehealth interpretation visit.
You leave with specific, evidence-informed adjustments grounded in your own physiology, not a generic protocol.

How It Works: The ADORE Framework Applied to Metabolic Care

Metabolic care here runs through the ADORE framework, the same five-phase model that anchors every plan we build.

Assess

Every metabolic program begins with a comprehensive evaluation that includes medical history, symptom assessment, body composition analysis, advanced laboratory testing, medication review, lifestyle evaluation, and—when appropriate—Continuous Glucose Monitoring, cardiovascular risk assessment, hormone testing, and nutritional screening.

Decode

Laboratory findings are interpreted within the context of your symptoms, lifestyle, medical history, and long-term goals. Rather than reviewing isolated laboratory values, we identify patterns involving insulin resistance, inflammation, cholesterol metabolism, thyroid function, hormone balance, liver health, and metabolic flexibility.

Optimize

A personalized care plan is developed using nutrition, exercise, lifestyle medicine, targeted supplementation, diabetes care, weight management, hormone optimization when appropriate, and ongoing metabolic monitoring to improve overall health.

Refine

Regular follow-up visits allow us to review laboratory trends, body composition changes, CGM data, treatment response, and symptom improvement while refining recommendations over time.

Empower

Patients receive education, practical tools, and individualized guidance that help them understand their metabolism and build sustainable habits supporting long-term health, disease prevention, and healthy aging.

Your Provider

Metabolic care at The Sante Method is led by Lovelle Valencia, a board-certified Nurse Practitioner (NP, FNP, PMHNP) with specialized training in functional medicine (IFM), metabolic health (A4M), and psychiatric mental health. Her training set is the reason the pathways above sit under one roof: A4M for the metabolic and endocrine workup, IFM for functional pattern recognition across systems, and PMHNP for the metabolic-psychiatry overlap that connects the data to mood and cognition.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if a metabolic assessment is right for me?

If your labs read "normal" but symptoms persist, or if you've been told there's nothing to address despite real changes in energy, sleep, weight, mood, or recovery, a Comprehensive Metabolic Assessment is the right starting point. The assessment itself confirms whether deeper functional patterns are driving what you feel.

The Comprehensive Metabolic Assessment is the full workup: panels, hormones, inflammatory markers, nutrient status, and clinician interpretation. The CGM program is a 14-day continuous glucose monitoring cycle that adds real-time data to that picture. Most patients begin with the assessment; CGM is added when continuous glucose data will sharpen the plan.

Metabolic Psychiatry looks at metabolism's contribution to mood, cognition, and mental performance. It is not psychiatric treatment or therapy, and we do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. The focus is on identifying and optimizing metabolic contributors that may affect cognitive and emotional well-being.

Care is telehealth-first. Initial consultations, lab reviews, follow-up visits, and plan adjustments are conducted securely online and accessible across California. CGM device insertion is in-office at our Westlake Village location; the 60-minute interpretation visit afterward is telehealth. See our full telehealth delivery model for specifics.

The default workup covers insulin and glucose markers, the full thyroid axis, sex hormones, cortisol rhythm, inflammatory markers, lipid particle detail, liver function, and nutrient cofactors that influence metabolic and hormone expression. The exact panel is calibrated to your history and goals, and any prior labs you bring are factored in so you're not paying for tests you've already run.

A Comprehensive Metabolic Assessment is the starting point: one visit, the full panel, and a plan built against your actual data rather than a reference range. If you're weighing whether this is the right next step, book the assessment or contact us with questions.
